Dogs pictures like posters

These are my pictures from March this year. Mickey is a British Staffordshire pitbull attending swimming classes. The dog below is a pretty lady whose name I don't know. This is the first time I can see at least one of her eyes, so hairy she is!
To give the shots this vintage magazine look, I did not use Photoshop. I have these pics in low definition to download them to my cell phone, and then share them with my friends. I've seen if I take the picture again, from the cell phone screen, the colors are altered and more texture is added.
Though definition in details is lost, the pictures look more appealing than the first originals.

Remembering Marilyn Monroe. Recordando a Marilyn

One of my neighbors trashed an old classic poster of Marilyn Monroe. I couldn´t help myself, she looks so beautiful, I took some pictures of the poster, which is in bad condition and full of dust, and finally I decided to take it into my kitchen. I´m not sure what I´ll do with it. Maybe transform it into a piece of art.

My digital works as an homage of Frida Kahlo. Mis trabajos digitales como homenaje a Frida Kahlo

In January 2014 I´ve participated in a competition of digital works for the event ¨Frida Kahlo: her photos¨, at the Museum of Latin American Art of Long Beach. From the 300 works that were sent from around the world, only some (can´t tell how many), were selected to be projected at the event. Among them, the one right above was selected too.
The maximum of works to be submitted were three, and today I am showing them all.
They are based on Frida´s quotes, being the first one related to the water, and the last one to her own death.

I also prepared the following two, but didn´t chose them to send to the Museum.

Frida and her passion

Frida and her pain

Today, I´ve had a wonderful afternoon at the Museum MOLAA, here I´m sharing some pictures:

That´s me, now an official local artist in Southern California!

Harpo 5 and Harpo 6. My Grey Pop art?

I´ve been exercising with these intertwined images called ¨Harpo 5¨ and ¨Harpo 6¨. And it was by chance that I came across with the article at Frieze Magazine that shows an illustration by Thomas Bayrle. They define the style as Pop Art or Grey Pop.

Thomas Bayrle, Sloping Loafers/Smooth (2012)

¨Thomas Bayrle has been working since the mid-sixties and is now recognized as key figure in European ‘Pop Art’, sometimes referred to as Grey Pop. In Bayrle’s work, single units are replicated and stretched into a mass, describing a world suspended between positive collectivism and deadening uniformity. His varied practice has spanned painting, sculpture, fashion and graphic design. For Frieze Projects, Bayrle will present two patterned works along the entrance to the fair and in the public squares using designs originally conceived in 1967, derived from pairs of loafers in traffic- light colours and the Laughing Cow motif from the French processed cheese brand.¨

I´m not sure that my Harpos 5 and 6 could be labeled as Grey Pop, given my process is absolutely different. Yes I do have in common the replicated units, but they are not the same and my painting is more chaotic....

Letras entrelazadas. Intertwined letters

This painting is representing the power of the letters, no matter type, size, color, language.
It is divided in six rectangular areas, like the pages of a book.

Posters for a tire shop. Posters para un negocio de gomas

Two versions of the same poster, I think the blue one is better, the wheels are more readable. And the graphic design stop here, I don't enjoy drawing letters....

Montainous Landscape. Paisaje Montañoso

This digital painting is like a poster. I´ve been influenced ultimately by my eldest daughter, she is a future graphic design. Mi idea is to intertwine the sky with the snow and the mountain. All part of the same landscape.

Uterus with multiple embryos. Útero con embriones múltiples

I have a previous digital painting of an uterus with an embryo inside. Then I made a different one containing multiple embryos. The original painting has more colors, but I decided to leave it in red and black, it´s more like a poster but it seems to me stronger, as the feeling a mother must have knowing she has so many lives inside her body. The lines on both sides of the uterus are the energy emanating from the fertilized womb.

Robots

Robots. Collage

“I, on the other hand, am a finished product. I absorb electrical energy directly and utilize it with an almost one hundred percent efficiency. I am composed of strong metal, am continuously conscious, and can stand extremes of environment easily. These are facts which, with the self-evident proposition that no being can create another being superior to itself¨
